Nancy's Mountain Bike Adventure for Leukemia & Lymphoma

Dear friends and family:

I am taking to the road!! Well, dirt trail, that is. On October 19th, I will set out to ride a mountain bike marathon –- 55 miles on Slickrock, through sand, and up several thousand feet in Moab, Utah. (Nancy, do an intense off-road marathon ride? You might ask.) Well, it is true. While Scott has been focused on ocean adventures, I have been sticking to terra firma and my bike. I’ve already begun training and I have the cuts and bruises to prove it! But I’m not facing this challenge alone. I am joining over 100 mountain bikers in the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society Team in Training program to help find a cure for blood-related cancers.

Did you KNOW… (I didn’t)

· Leukemia is the number one cause of death in children between the ages of one and fourteen.
· Leukemia and Lymphomas are the leading fatal cancers in young women and men under the age of 35.
· 217 people a day are diagnosed with a blood related cancer.
· There is NO KNOWN cure for these blood cancers.
· The research done for these blood cancers is considered a critical window into the cure for other cancers.

So – Why am I giving you all of this info? BECAUSE YOU CAN HELP!!

Team In Training (“TNT”) provides me with professional coaches, a training regimen and the support and encouragement I’ll need; and in return I’ve committed to fundraise for their programs. My minimum commitment is $3100. At this level, 75% of each dollar raised will directly fund research and patient services. This is good, but pushing past that goal means 100% of what is donated above the minimum will directly support the research to find a cure. It is for that reason that I have set a personal goal to raise over $10,000! That’s why I am writing you this letter. I need your help to meet my goals with $$$$ and moral support.

Please help me by completing the sponsor form and returning it to me with your tax-deductible contribution by Friday, August 15th. With your generous support, I will cross that finish line in Moab, and we will all contribute to the finish of leukemia and lymphoma in the 21st century. Thank you!!
